Julian Johnson is an experienced civil rights trial lawyer. Julian focuses his practice on representing victims of police brutality and misconduct. He has represented dozens of clients in wrongful death, wrongful conviction, malicious prosecution, excessive force, police shootings, and other civil rights and police misconduct cases. Through his advocacy, Julian has helped to obtain millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients. Additionally, Julian is an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University School of Law in Chicago.

Prior to entering private practice, Julian began his career as a public defender in Boston, MA. He later returned to his native Chicago and joined the City of Chicago Law Department where he represented the City of Chicago in complex and high-profile civil rights litigation. While at the City of Chicago Law Department, Julian became one of the youngest attorneys promoted to Senior Counsel in the Law Department’s history. As a Senior Counsel, Julian supervised junior attorneys in all aspects of litigation and trial and tried high-exposure multi-million-dollar cases. 

Julian attended Howard University where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He received his law degree from Southern University Law Center where he served as an editor of the Journal of Race Gender & Poverty and as Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Fellow.
