James A. Alexander, Jr. is an Associate in Alston & Bird's Financial Services & Products Group. With perspective gained working in the Department of Justice and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, James brings a nuanced approach in advising clients on regulatory compliance requirements, complex Banking M&A/financial transactions, Payment Systems negotiations, and corporate governance decisions.
James received his J.D./M.Div. dual degree from Vanderbilt University, where he was a Dean's Scholar in both the law and divinity schools as well as a Branstetter Litigation & Dispute Resolution fellow in the law school and a Cal Turner Moral Leadership Fellow in the divinity school. While pursuing his dual degree, James served as an Associate Justice of the Moot Court Board, President of the Black Law Students Association, and a judge on the Appellate Review Board for the university, among other honors. James is also the Chair of the Board of Directors for Found Stages, Inc., a non-profit, immersive theater company.
